Acupuncture
What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is the practice of inserting thin sterile needles into the skin to stimulate acupuncture points and Qi (energy) in the body in order to correct imbalances and produce a therapeutic effect. It is commonly used for pain relief and weight management, and for treating nausea, sleep disorders, menstrual, and fertility issues.
Conditions Treated
Pain Relief
With regards to pain relief, your practitioner will assess your pain based on its affected area, quality, severity, and duration, and will then choose appropriate acupuncture points prior to beginning the treatment. In most cases, your practitioner will not insert needles in an area where there is pain, and will instead choose points elsewhere on the body for treatment.
Menstrual/Fertility Issues
In Traditional Chinese Medicine theory, fertility depends on having regular menstrual cycles, and women who have irregular or problematic menstrual cycles may experience difficulties in maintaining fertility. When treating fertility issues, acupuncture is used to help patients maintain proper menstrual cycles, and thereby increasing fertility..
Weight Management
When treating weight management issues, acupuncture helps improve overall circulation and digestive functions, so not only does it transform excess fat on the body into useful energy, but overall health and awareness are improved as well.
